a year for the books: 2025

The cute Christmas tree ornament pictured here, a gift from my daughter, sums up my 2025. It was literally a year for the books—for making new connections, doing promotion, and launching the audiobook version of my mystery novel Devious Web!

With well over 1,000 Devious Web readers and listeners worldwide and growing, I’m grateful for the progress to date and look forward to more adventures in 2026.

Looking back on the past year, here are some memorable moments:

-            Delighted to see Amazon Canada and Barnes & Noble placing Devious Web adjacent to Freida McFadden’s titles, whose latest psychological thriller “The Housemaid” was made into a compelling movie (in theatres now).

-            Loved meeting many devoted mystery/suspense novel readers at signing events— including a woman who was purchasing her copy from me in Toronto when her sister, on vacation in the UK, shared a selfie with Devious Web on the bar at a London pub! Like-minded sisters miles apart and both choosing Devious Web was very cool!

-            Lucky to have amazing support from family and friends, especially my 4-year-old granddaughter Emmy who handed out promo cards at events proudly saying, “My Grama wrote this”.

Here’s a peek at promotions that raised the profile of Devious Web in 2025:

-            The audiobook version of Devious Web launched on Audible and iTunes and was promoted in AudioFile magazine.

-            Amazing podcast “Living the Next Chapter” was a great interview opportunity.  You can listen to the podcast on YouTube or your fave podcast channel.

-            I was a featured speaker and exhibitor at the Toronto National Women’s Show, with strong book sales and lots of interest in the ebook and audiobook.

-            A press release issued in the US tied to American politics gained traction for the book in the winter holiday season (Canadian press release previously issued in 2024).

-            US mystery blogger “Partners in Crime” virtual tour provided exposure for Devious Web on nearly 20 blog sites. Here’s a promo from that tour.

-            My Canadian Goodreads giveaway contest received great response.

-            And a professional film company recorded my promo videos, some of which are now posted on YouTube.

What’s next? You’ll have to stay tuned as the journey continues but meantime, please post ratings and reviews on sites like Amazon, Audible, and Goodreads to help build the buzz for Devious Web!

I appreciate all of you— my readers and supporters—and here’s wishing everyone a happy and prosperous 2026!
